Praxis is IFYS' annual leadership conference. A moment to step away from the day-to-day, to come together from across Queensland and invest in the practice that powers everything we do. Expect inspiring speakers, informative workshops, fun activities and a night to celebrate the people who strengthen the human spirit every single day.

Wednesday 9 & Thursday 10 September 2026, with the Praxis Awards on Thursday evening.

Meet & Greet Drinks
There is an opportunity for mingling with some of our senior leaders in The Courtyard. This event is optional but is a great opportunity to acquaint yourself with other attendees prior to kick off the next morning. Drinks for this event are at your own expense.
Dinner
You are free to explore the city for dinner or dine in at Frescos Restaurant, which opens from 6:00pm.
Registration
Follow the IFYS banners to find Joy and Kate at the desk outside the Wickham and Leichhardt conference rooms to register your arrival and collect your ID tag and gift bag. Grab a cup of tea or coffee and mingle with your colleagues.
Praxis Day Activities
Praxis day activities will be held in the Wickham and Leichhardt Rooms. A buffet lunch will be served in The Courtyard.
Dinner
You are free to explore the city for dinner or dine in at Fresco's Restaurant, which opens from 6:00pm.

Accommodation
Each Praxis attendee will have their own room for the duration of Praxis.
Each room has been booked to accommodate one person and is for IFYS employees.
Parking
Head straight to Grand Chancellor's underground car park and retain your ticket at the boom gate. When you check in at Reception, you can swap your ticket for a parking pass. The cost of the parking pass is covered by IFYS for the duration of Praxis.
In the unlikely event of the car park being full, please park in one of the secure car parks nearby. You may use your corporate card or claim this offsite parking through a Reimbursement Form.
Check-In
Check-in is available from 2pm on Tuesday, the 8th of September (only if you have requested accommodation from this date on the Registration Form). Please ensure that you have discussed an appropriate arrival time with your line manager.
If you are checking in on Wednesday morning, you will need to store your luggage at Reception until your room is available in the afternoon.
Check-Out
Check-out is before 11am on Friday, the 10th of September. If you need to store your luggage, Reception has a small storage room with limited space.

Smoking
The smoking area is located on Leichhardt Street. Exit via the Leichhardt Street doors and turn left. There is a strict NO SMOKING policy inside the hotel, including balconies.
What's nearby?
Hotel Grand Chancellor is right next to Roma Street Parklands if you're keen to get up with the birds and go for a walk. There are several restaurants and cafes nearby for dining out on Tuesday and Wednesday night or Fresco's Restaurant in the hotel is open for dinner from 6pm.
Travel & arrival
All staff should discuss the business needs with their line manager to determine the most appropriate arrival and departure times. We encourage you to use this opportunity to take annual leave to focus on some self-care. It's a great chance to explore Brisbane or catch up with family and friends before or after Praxis.
Flights
Staff from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton are required to complete an authorised Travel Request Form and send it to corporateadministration@ifys.com.au to book flights. Please note that accommodation has already been arranged, and travel allowance is not applicable, so you are not required to complete these sections on the Travel Form. Please ensure you mention Praxis on the form.
Driving
Please carpool with colleagues where possible. Parking can be limited if there are other conferences being held at the hotel. You may claim mileage if using personal vehicles. Please submit a Private Vehicle Mileage Claim Form.
Public Transport
Central Station is the closest Train Station to Hotel Grand Chancellor. Excluding the Airtrain from the airport, fares are still 50c.

Transfers
For staff flying in from regional areas, the Grand Chancellor Hotel is approximately 20 minutes' drive from Brisbane Airport. You may pay for the Airtrain or a taxi with your Corporate Card or claim through a Reimbursement Form after the event. Please travel with other IFYS Praxis attendees where possible.
The meals
Excluding dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday, all meals will be provided from breakfast on Wednesday until breakfast on Friday. You may use your Corporate Card to pay for dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Alternatively, you can claim these costs through a Reimbursement Form after the event.
Either way, please ensure you retain your receipt!

Your room booking includes a daily buffet breakfast at Frescos Restaurant from 6:30am.
Lunch
A buffet lunch will be provided in The Courtyard for all staff during conference days.
For eligible staff before and after Praxis — staff flying in from regional areas and Wide Bay staff may also claim lunch purchased on Tuesday and Friday and the maximum cost is $40 per person per meal.
Dinner
The maximum cost for dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday night is $65 per person per meal (including 1x alcoholic drink). Expenditure on meals is for IFYS employees only.

IFYS has invested a lot of time, energy and money into ensuring that Praxis 2026 is a great opportunity for you to spend some time away from your normal work, network with colleagues, and focus on some personal and professional development over this period.
Code of conduct
- Praxis is a professional event — the IFYS Code of Conduct applies at all times, including the awards dinner.
- Bring the best version of yourself that you can be.
- Turn up on time for all sessions, be alert and focused on the presentation, workshop or speaker.
- Adhere to the dress code.
- Participate, ask questions, interact with others, reflect, practice and learn.
- Model the IFYS values in your behaviour over this period, remembering you are representing IFYS at all times: Integrity, Respect, Inclusiveness, Compassion, Teamwork.
Dress code
- Conference days — smart casual. You are representing IFYS in a public space. Jeans are fine.
- Awards dinner — themed “Stars of Screen”. More information will be sent to you.
- Brisbane in September is mild (around 12–26°C) — a light layer is handy for air-conditioned rooms.
- Comfortable shoes recommended.

Accommodation & attendance
Do I have to share a room?
No, each Praxis attendee will have their own hotel room with a buffet breakfast included. Each room has been booked to accommodate one person and is for IFYS employees only.
Is breakfast included?
Yes! Fresco's Restaurant is open from 6.30am for a full buffet breakfast daily. Please ensure you leave enough time to arrive at Praxis punctually.
To get to Fresco's, turn left when you come out of the lift at Reception level, head up the stairs and Frescos will be straight in front of you.
I live locally; do I have to stay at the hotel?
It is not mandatory; however, registration is open from 8am on Wednesday and proceedings will end late on Thursday night after the Awards Dinner. Please be punctual and consider your safety when leaving the dinner.
Can I arrive to the conference on Wednesday morning instead of Tuesday afternoon?
Yes, but please note Praxis registration is open from 8am. Please be punctual and consider unavoidable factors such as peak hour traffic.
Travel & parking
How will I get to Brisbane?
If you are from Cairns, Townsville, Mackay or Rockhampton, please discuss the business needs with your line manager to determine appropriate flight times. Send an authorised Travel Request Form to corporateadministration@ifys.com.au to book your flights.

Costs & claims
Is Travel Allowance offered for this event?
No.
What costs can I claim, and can I use my Corporate Card?
All attendees are entitled to claim dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The maximum cost for dinner per person per meal is $65 (including 1x alcoholic drink). You may use your corporate credit card to pay for meals but if you don't have one, please complete the Reimbursement Form after the event. Mileage can be claimed for private vehicle use by submitting a Private Vehicle Mileage Claim Form after the event.
For regional staff flying in, you may also claim lunch on Tuesday and Friday plus transfers from the airport. Wide Bay staff may also claim lunch on Tuesday and Friday. The maximum cost for lunch per person per meal is $40.

At the conference
What should I wear?
The dress code is smart casual but please remember you are representing IFYS in a public space. Yes, you can wear jeans!
This year, the Awards Dinner is themed “Stars of Screen”. More information will be sent to you about this.
What should I bring to the conference?
Pens and notebooks will be supplied. Mobile phones will be required for some interactive activities.
Water will be provided but please bring your own reusable water bottle if you prefer.
Will I be expected to work?
Ideally you will have someone covering for you in your absence. Our preference is for you to fully participate in the conference presentations and workshops. If you need to respond to emails or phone messages, there are breaks in which to do so.
Can I use a meeting room at the venue?
No. The use of additional conference and meeting rooms requires a booking and comes at an extra cost. Please find a quiet place in the Courtyard, the Cafe or the foyer.
